Vibrant Together – A Plan of Development For Downtown

Throughout the course of its 39-year history the DDA has been involved in a diverse array of development projects with the goal of sustaining Downtown Grand Junction’s role as a hub for economic activity and cultural significance. The Vibrant Together Plan’s goal is to position Downtown for future success, and create a Downtown that benefits the entire Grand Valley.

Vibrant Together

About the Plan

This report is a collaborative effort between the Downtown Grand Junction, The City of Grand Junction, and other community stakeholder groups. Based on community feedback we identified better connectivity to downtown, creating new gathering spaces, adding more events, and new redevelopment as priorities for the future.

Placemaking Downtown

Downtown Grand Junction and GJ Creates – Creative District have installed new murals and moved Art on the Corner pieces to enhance the vibe of Downtown. We have used art to cover up graffiti, clean up our breezeways, and add vibrancy to Colorado Avenue. Check out the work we have done at GJ Creates website!

Redevelopment Downtown

Downtown Grand Junction is growing! There are new residential developments happening at 8th and White Avenue, commercial redevelopment at 7th and Main, and building improvements along Colorado Avenue. Look for an alley uplift project on the south side of Main Street, between 4th and 5th Streets. Stay tuned for more information!

Easily connecting to Downtown Grand Junction is a priority that helps foster a strong local business community. We are always looking to improve access by foot, bike, and car. We are currently working with community partners to study converting 4th and 5th back to two-way traffic. Stay tuned for more information!
