PassportParking app launched Monday, March 13
March 13, 2017 • For Immediate Release
Grand Junction, CO – Mobile payments for parking have come to Grand Junction. The City today launched it’s partnership with payment industry leader Passport to provide a parking application in the Downtown area. Parkers may now pay for parking with a credit card – they can simply download the free smartphone app to handle their payments. In addition to credit card payments, coins and smart cards are still accepted at all parking meters and in the parking garage.
Residents and visitors can now take advantage of the PassportParking app and pay for metered parking on their phone by adding a debit or credit card. With the parking payment app, drivers can:
- Pay securely through the app
- Monitor parking sessions
- Extend parking from the app (up to the maximum allotted time)
- View parking history
Drivers are encouraged to download PassportParking from the iPhone App Store and Android Google Play. Users can also manage their parking online at ppprk.com. The app is free to download.
This one year pilot program is a project of the City of Grand Junction in partnership with Downtown Grand Junction.
“We’re excited to make it easier to park in Downtown Grand Junction and provide cutting edge technology to our drivers. Parking and paying from your mobile phone brings a wealth of benefits for the customer – paying with a credit card, getting reminders when your parking is about to expire, extending your time, and checking your parking history. We are confident residents and visitors to Grand Junction will enjoy using the app,” said Allison Blevins, Downtown Business Improvement District Executive Director.
Passport is the leading mobile payment provider for parking and transportation in North America, powering the parking apps for large cities like Chicago, Toronto, Cincinnati, Salt Lake City, and Detroit. Passport also provides its mobile payment application to the University of Florida campus.
