Life happens here

This morning, before work, I stopped by Big O Tires and dropped off my car. I’m getting my oil changed and tires rotated. I zipped up my Loki coat and walked down Main Street towards my shop. I had a few minutes to spare before I opened the doors, so I thought I’d go pick up my daily americano from Roasted rather than ask them to deliver it. A friendly man outside wished me a good morning as I walked in the shop.

Roasted was full, as usual, blaring a great mix of hipster-y music. A few minutes later I headed to Tangle, americano in hand. I got the shop opened up, lights on, music going and customers started to come in. The best part about a shop like mine is that after 8 years of business, we have a great collection of regulars. I’ve gotten to know their stories over the years and have made some dear friends in the process.

Today Andrea came in with a new order of hand dyed wool fabric. She teaches classes at Tangle and we carry her beautiful wool that she dyes on her farm just north of town. I love that it’s local. I love the amazing things we can make with it too.

The shop will be closing soon and I’ll lock up and head over to pick up my car. On my way I want to stop by Pollux and see their new selection of baby gifts. Even though my kids are big, I’ve always wanted a Petunia Picklebottom diaper bag. They’re SO cute!

Tonight I’m meeting a friend for drinks at Bin 707. I’m sure we won’t be able to resist the food too. Have you tried the Pork Belly Steamed Buns? They’re amazing! As is everything else there too.

Growing up in Grand Junction, I always knew downtown was special. But it’s taken adulthood for me to realize just how special and charming it is. I feel so thankful to get to work downtown every day and that everyday something in my life brings me here.  For me, life really does happen here.
