OFF THE SHELF Local Author Sept 8, 2016

CRYSTAL Books & Gifts   439 Main Street, 81501
Local authors Lucinda Stein and Heather Portenier will be featured at the September 8th Off The Shelf Author Series at Crystal Books and Gifts at 439 Main Street in Downtown Grand Junction. The event is free to the public and will be from 6-7pm during the Downtown Farmers Market.
Award winning author of “Spiral of Darkness” and “Sanctuary”, Lucinda Stein will discuss how she transformed a Colorado urban legend into a novel. Though truth may be stranger than fiction, Stein argues that her murder mystery, Spiral of Darkness, challenges that idea. A school librarian for over twenty years, Stein now writes fulltime. When not writing, she prefers to be outdoors hiking desert canyons and mountain trails.
Heather Portenier is a freelance writer. Her memoir, “Please Excuse the Mess”, chronicles her familys journey through tragedy and healing. Porteniers life changed forever in 2007 when her eight-year-old son Kamron suffered a severe traumatic brain injury in a car accident. Now 17, Kamron is looking forward to an independent future, regardless of his challenges. Portenier will discuss the hurdles and triumphs of raising a special needs teen.
