Come by CRYSTAL Books and Gifts for another weekly Off The Shelf Author Series on Thursday evenings during the Downtown Farmers Market. It is free to the public and is a great opportunity to meet local authors while enjoying informative and entertaining presentations by them.
On Thursday, July 27th, from 6pm to 7pm, meet local authors of poetry, Karen Fricke and Luis Lopez.
Author Karen Fricke will be discussing and doing brief readings from her book of poetry, Beyond Painted Desert.
Karen Fricke is a retired teacher who lives in Grand Junction, Colorado with her husband, three horses and two dogs on twelve acres of land. Writing played a positive, powerful role during her childhood years. During her 30-year career as an elementary school teacher, she found that students were empowered through encouragement to find their own writing “voices”, and this became one of her greatest rewards. She now has a small healing practice as a Cranial-Sacral Therapist and Matrix EnergeticsT Practitioner and continues to write poetry as she explores new vistas.
Author Luis Lopez will be doing readings and a presentation of his newly released book, More Musings of a Barrio Sack Boy.
L. Luis Lopez is a retired professor from Colorado Mesa University where he taught English, Latin, Ancient Greek, and Mythology. He has published four books of poetry: Musings of a Barrio Sack Boy, A Painting of Sand, Each Month I Sing (which won the American Book Award in 2008), and Andromeda to Vulpecula, 88 Constellation Poems.
