OFF THE SHELF – July 20, 2017

CRYSTAL Books & Gifts   439 Main Street, 81501
Come by CRYSTAL Books and Gifts for another weekly “Off The Shelf Author Series” on Thursday evenings during the Downtown Farmer’s Market. It is free to the public and is a great opportunity to meet local authors while enjoying informative and entertaining presentations by them.

On Thursday, July 20th, from 6pm to 7pm, meet local authors Matt Djos and Helen Sperber.
Matt Djos will be doing readings from and signing copies of his book, Like White, Scattering Flowers ( A Remembrance). The novel is the first of a trilogy about alcoholism, addiction, and the forgotten generation in the latter half of the twentieth century.
Matt has been a writer, scholar, and teacher for nearly half a century writing more than fifty academic and commercial articles and five books on subjects as varied as alcoholism, sailing, addiction, skiing, Fifties memoirs, literary fiction, addiction, and the Great outdoors. The sequel to Scattering Flowers, The Masque, is scheduled for publication later this year. Matt is now retired from teaching and academics and lives with his wife, Jeanine, in the High Country of Western Colorado.
Helen Sperber, is the author of The Blue Wildebeest, a wonderfully engaging story that follows three life-long friends as they pursue their bucket-lists while vacationing on Cape Cod. Helen will read a passage from the book and then share ideas about how we can enable our own visions and those of the seniors we love.
Helen Sperber has found “life after retirement” exciting and rewarding. After retiring from her position as activity director at a nursing home, she participated in Community Theater, took lessons in yoga and dance, and learned to swim. She became a published poet and is a member of Western Colorado Writers Forum.
