Come by CRYSTAL Books and Gifts for another weekly “Off The Shelf Author Series” on Thursday evenings during the Downtown Farmer’s Market. It is free to the public and is a great opportunity to meet local authors while enjoying informative and entertaining presentations by them.
On Thursday, July 13th, from 6pm to 7pm, meet local authors Rebecca Carpenter and Lucinda Stein.
Author Rebecca Carpenter will be discussing the importance of The First Pages of a book. Using her young adult science fiction novel, Butterfly Bones, Carpenter will show how the first pages of a book must hook a reader and supply important information to move the story forward.
Rebecca Carpenter is a native of Western Colorado. She finds solace and clarity while enjoying the beautiful mountains of Colorado.
Author Lucinda Stein will be discussing the The Story Behind the Story; the background behind her two latest books. Her book, Jadeite’s Journey is a young adult dystopian novel set on the Western Slope of Colorado in the year 2616. Dry Run, Oklahoma is a historical novel set in the Depression told from the unique viewpoint of a Native American woman.
A retired librarian, Lucinda Stein’s book, Sanctuary: Family, Friends and Strangers was a 2010 Colorado Book Award finalist. Her story, “Sulfur Springs,” won the 2011 LAURA Short Fiction Award, and her novel, Three Threads Woven was a 2010 WILLA finalist.
