OFF THE SHELF – Helen Sperber June 21, 2018

CRYSTAL Books & Gifts   4

Come by CRYSTAL Books and Gifts, during this year’s first weekly “Off The Shelf Author Series” on Thursday evenings during the Downtown Farmer’s Market. It is free to the public and is a great opportunity to meet local authors while enjoying informative and entertaining presentations by them.

On Thursday, June 21st, from 6pm to 7pm, Local Author Helen Sperber will be introducing her first book of poetry, Paper Days and Years as well as reading excerpts from her senior coming of age novel, The Blue Wildebeest.

Paper Days and Years is a book of poetry spanning from childhood to the end of life, from spiders to dead crows, and from love to bombings in Paris, Helen explores poetically the world around her as well as internal musings. These readings will both inspire and challenge you.

The Blue Wildebeest is a novel which follows Mattie and her friends, all past seventy and determined to continue living life to the fullest, as they set off to pursue their bucket lists on Cape Cod. Helen will read excerpts from this funny/sad/happy tale of wise and foolish women.

Helen Sperber has found “life after retirement” exciting and rewarding. After retiring from her position as activity director at a nursing home, she participated in community theater, took lessons in yoga and dance, and learned to swim. She became a published poet and is a charter member of Western Colorado Writers Forum.
