OFF THE SHELF – August 2, 2018 Joseph Colwell

CRYSTAL Books & Gifts   439 Main Street, 81501

Come by CRYSTAL Books and Gifts to attend their “Off The Shelf Author Series” on Thursday evenings throughout the summer during the Downtown Farmer’s Market. It is a free event that is open to the public and is a great opportunity to meet local authors while enjoying informative and entertaining presentations by them.

On Thursday, August 2nd., from 6pm to 7pm, the store will be hosting local Author, Joseph Colwell. Mr. Colwell will give a short presentation of how he came to write the book, Sands of Time, a scientific adventure and love story set in the slickrock canyon country, and about quantum physics, time travel, spirituality, and extraterrestrial civilizations.

He will relate this to local geology and relevance to where the story takes place in Utah followed by a short reading of a few sections that give the flavor of the writing.  Mr. Colwell will also talk briefly about his newest novel, Tales of Ravens Nest, a unique novel of short stories.

Mr. Colwell and artist wife Katherine own a 40-acre nature preserve and retreat near Hotchkiss and is a retired Forest Service biologist. He has written two books of nature essays and two novels. He was 2017 Artist in Residence of the Dominguez Escalante National Conservation Area south of Grand Junction and will publish a book of essays on that area.

Join us at CRYSTAL Books and Gifts at 439 Main Street in Downtown Grand Junction. Take a break from the hot temperatures on the street and drop in for a few minutes or the entire hour.
