Come by CRYSTAL Books and Gifts to attend their “Off The Shelf Author Series” on Thursday evenings throughout the summer during the Downtown Farmer’s Market. It is a free event that is open to the public and is a great opportunity to meet local authors while enjoying informative and entertaining presentations by them.

On Thursday, August 16th, from 6pm to 7pm, the store will be hosting two well-known popular local Authors, Lucinda Stein and Rebecca Carpenter.
Along with a book reading from her new book, Minnie’s Antique & Curiosity Shoppe, Lucinda Stein will discuss how she used reality as a launching point for this novel set in the author’s hometown.

A former librarian, Stein is the author of eight novels, ranging from historical fiction to young adult. Her books have been finalists for the WILLA Award and Colorado Book Award. Most recently her historical novel, Dry Run, Oklahoma, was nominated a finalist for the 2018 Oklahoma Book Award.
Young adult author and freelance copy editor, Rebecca Carpenter, will show how the first pages of a book must hook a reader and supply important information to move the story forward.
Rebecca Carpenter is a native of western Colorado. She is married with two grown children and has been blessed with five amazing grandchildren. She owns and directs a large childcare center where she shares her love for books. She also works as a part time freelance copy editor and interns as an assistant-to-the-editor for a small press, helping others attain their writing dreams. She self-published a memoir about her teen pregnancy in 2012, and her award winning, science fiction young adult novel, Butterfly Bones, was released on Nov. 28th, 2016 by Lakewater Press, with the second book in the Metamorphosis series scheduled for release in late August of 2018.
