Author Matt de la Peña

Young-adult author Matt de la Peña will give a public presentation about his work at 6 p.m. Friday, June 27, at the Mesa County Libraries Central Library, Fifth Street and Grand Avenue. The event is open to everyone, and there is no charge to attend. This event takes place after the library’s regular hours, so please enter through the East Entrance.
De la Peña is the author of five critically acclaimed young-adult novels: “Ball Don’t Lie,” “Mexican White Boy,” “We Were Here,” “I Will Save You,” and “The Living.” He also is author of the award-winning picture book “A Nation’s Hope: The Story of Boxing Legend Joe Louis.” He received his master of fine arts degree in creative writing from San Diego State University and his bachelor’s degree from the University of the Pacific, where he attended school on a full basketball scholarship. De la Peña lives in Brooklyn, N.Y.
