Uncanny Valley Art Gallery has been within the Grand Junction community for 4 years – and in that time, has established itself as no ordinary gallery. Not only does Uncanny serve refreshers (such as wine & beer), but they’re also a commission-free space – meaning 100% of the artists artwork sales, go right to the hardworking, talented artists within the gallery. They are also 100% uncensored, meaning all artists are free to design and create whatever they want without any restrictions. Uncanny wants to see their artists succeed, not only by selling artwork, but also with sharing their process.
Uncanny Valley has classes where artists can help teach others their process of art. As of now, they have 30 gallery members and members are given opportunities to demonstrate their medium of work. This varies with materials; acrylic, oil, watercolor paint, metals for sculpting, yarn for crocheting and others. Giving opportunities to the public to get outside their comfort zone and try something new.
One of the newest additions to the gallery is their spatter room. This is sure to be an experience for individuals, kids, families, or with a group of friends. In the Spatter Room, you’ll put on some overalls, grab a brush, and splatter paint at a canvas. What’s not to love about getting paint everywhere and having a cool piece of art you made?
Uncanny Valley Art Gallery is open Wednesday – Saturday from 12-6pm and Sunday from 12-4pm. This gallery also stays open until 9pm on Thursdays during Market on Main and until 10pm on First Fridays.
