After giving birth, your placenta can be used as medicine to promote a healthy postpartum, or turned into one-of-a-kind handmade keepsakes that you’ll treasure forever.

At this workshop, we’ll talk about:

  • PLACENTA ENCAPSULATION: The process of turning a woman’s placenta into capsules that may help prevent postpartum depression, enhance lactation, increase energy, speed recovery, and balance the hormones.
  • KEEPSAKE PLACENTA PRINTS: The imagery of the placenta represents the ‘Tree of Life,’ with the umbilical cord as the trunk and roots, the arteries and vein as the branches, and the placenta as the leaves.
  • KEEPSAKE PLACENTA PENDANTS: Dried placenta powder encased on the front of a vintage wooden checker piece. For the mother whose placenta is encased in the pendant, it’s a memento, a keepsake, and a visceral reminder of her connection to her child.
  • UMBILICAL CORD KEEPSAKES: Your baby’s umbilical cord can be dried and shaped into a heart or spiral, and preserved as a keepsake. Native American cultures do this traditionally.

Placenta Encapsulation Specialists, Laurel Ripple Carpenter, will present information and answer questions. She will also have sample placenta capsules, prints, pendants, and other goodies on hand for you to see.
