Virginia Jensen is a beadwork artist working in beadweaving and bead embroidery. Her accomplishments include three books of original beadwork designs with her own instructions and illustrations published by craft publisher Kalmbach Books. Many of her designs have appeared in the  monthly beaders’ magazine, Bead & Button. She teaches locally and has taught in the region as well as at the international Bead & Button Show in Milwaukee. Her work has traveled internationally in the Toho Bead Manufacturer Challenge.
She grew up in the South and worked as a graphic designer for most of her career, but did not come to beadwork until she moved to Grand Junction in 1999. She has studied English and Art at Winthrop College in South Carolina, graphic design at the University of Utah, and Creative writing at the University of New Mexico where she worked as a Graphic designer for the campus.
Virginia’s work focuses on stitchery and new styles of beads. Her books are filled with designs for the beader, from beginner to advanced, to make themselves. She has created several totally new stitches for beadweaving projects. She also shows and sells in regional fairs, craft shows and galleries.
Virginia continues to enjoy the process of making beautiful jewelry. Designing is still exciting and challenging to her and her work is becoming more interesting and intricate. Virginia will demonstrate her skill and show her jewelry.
