Last week we announced a “shop local” promotion with Grand West Dealerships which directly benefits Downtown businesses! This promotional program expected to inject $180,000 into the local economy through the Downtown Gift Card.
Grand West Dealerships, parent company of Grand West Kia, Grand West Hyundai, and Grand West Tractor, and Downtown Grand Junction are entering into a promotional agreement designed to bring customers into Grand West Dealerships while stimulating the local economy and encouraging customers to shop locally.
In a direct-mail promotion, Grand West Dealerships will distribute mailers to a selected group of their current customers. Recipients of the mailer will be receiving “scratch to win” Downtown Gift Cards ranging in value from $50 to $500. Everyone who receives this mailer will win, at the least, a $50 Downtown Gift Card. Recipients who claim their Downtown Gift Card at Grand West Dealerships can use it at their choice of over 100 locally-owned shops, restaurants, and services in Downtown Grand Junction. Over the next year, Grand West Dealerships expects to purchase approximately $180,000 in gift cards for this promotion.
“Grand West was looking for a promotion that would draw people into their dealerships. They had explored gift and check cards from national brands, but were looking for a means to keep the money in our community. After noticing an ad for our gift card, Grand West approached the Downtown Business Improvement District about using the Downtown Gift Card in their promotion. We welcomed the opportunity.” said Aaron Hoffman, Marketing and Communications Director for Downtown Grand Junction. “With nearly every business in Downtown Grand Junction locally owned and operated, this Grand West promotion will have an immediate impact on the Downtown economy as well as on the larger community through city sales tax collection.”
“Grand West Dealerships is very pleased that we can join in partnership with Downtown Grand Junction, on a personal note as someone raised here. It makes me very proud that we can support local business and economy. I find it of the utmost importance to stay local and shop local” Ken Reeher, BDC/Marketing Manager Grand West Dealerships
“Downtown is not an isolated business district. It is a center of community that non-Downtown businesses recognize for its special value in community-building as well as to their own identity as local businesses” explained Harry Weiss, Executive Director of the Downtown Grand Junction Business Improvement District.
The Downtown Gift Card is accepted at over 100 shops, services, and restaurants in Downtown Grand Junction. The card is simple and convenient to use. More information on the Downtown Gift Card, as well as a list of participating businesses, can be found at downtowngj.org/giftcard.
The Downtown Grand Junction Card is issued by Sunrise Banks, N.A. St. Paul, MN 55103 member FDIC, pursuant to a license by MasterCard International Incorporated.
