Are there restrictions and guidelines due to COVID-19?
Yes, Downtown GJ is working with Mesa County Public Health to make sure the Art Festival meets the requirements for outdoor events with high participant movement. To review the full guidelines from MCPH, click here.
First Friday and Film Festival does not fall under the outdoor event guidelines. Most, if not all, First Friday events will be indoors and masks are required per State order. Each gallery and participating business will comply with local indoor restrictions. The Film Festival will be virtual this year and do not fall under outdoor/indoor restrictions.
Where will the Art Festival take place?
The Downtown Art Festival will take place over a three-day span. First Friday will take place in galleries and businesses Downtown. The Artist Expo on Saturday will take place in the parking lot at 4th + Colorado Avenue to best accommodate the guidelines from MCPH. Film Festival will take place virtually this year – stay tuned on how to watch!
Why is the Artist Expo not on Main Street?
Outdoor events are required to run at 50% capacity and implement social distancing measures. The lot at 4th + Colorado allows us to meet the requirements while maximizing the number of vendors we’re allowed to include.
How do I apply as a vendor for the Artist Expo or submit for Film Festival?
Registration is open for the Artist Expo and Film Festival. To help support our local art community, submission fees are waived for both the Artist Expo and Film Festival. Click here to register!
How do I register as a spectator to attend the Artist Expo?
Spectator registration is required by MCPH for the Artist Expo to help with contact tracing. Downtown GJ will be putting out more information on how to register for the event as a spectator soon. Tickets are NOT required for First Friday or Film Festival.
Am I required to wear a mask?
For First Friday, galleries and businesses will be complying with all State and local requirements including masks and limited capacity. During the Artist Expo, all vendors, sponsors, and event personnel are required to wear masks at the event during any interactions. Masks can be temporarily removed if and when spectators are not nearby and social distancing is taking place. Spectators are strongly encouraged to wear masks while at the event and are required to wear them any time social distancing cannot occur. Because Film Festival is virtual, masks are not required.
Are dogs or other pets allowed?
No, dogs and other pets are not allowed at any Downtown event due to health and safety concerns. Service animals are permissible.
